CLIFTON PARK -- Police were called to a Shenendehowa middle school dance Friday night after a rumor circulated that someone had brought a weapon, a school official said.
According to District Superintendent L. Oliver Robinson, the dance at Koda Middle School was attended by several hundred sixth-grade students and was ending around 9:30 when one student claimed someone had a gun.
The students ran to the opposite side of the gymnasium from where they believed there was danger. Many used cellphones to call their parents, who Robinson said were understandably upset by the news.
Robinson said administrators will investigate who was involved when school is in session on Monday.
