The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library has been notified by the New York Library Association that it has been awarded NYLA’s 2007 Outstanding Public Library Building Award. The recognition will be made at NYLA’s Annual Conference in October and includes a $1,000 award in addition to a plaque. The Library was chosen over several candidates that were judged on a wide range of factors including overall design, process for gaining public approval, design and construction performance to budget and impact on the community.
David Golden, President of the Library Board of Trustees commented, “We are most pleased to be awarded this prestigious recognition. It is the result of years of effort by the Board, staff and greater Library community. A major factor in our winning this recognition has been the overwhelming response from our served community in the form of higher volume of usage, growth in patronage and quantum increases in program participation.”
The Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library is a 55,000 sq. ft., state-of-the-art “Green” Library that gained voter approval in 2004 and opened its doors for the first time last December 11. The building was designed by architects Woodward Connor Gillies & Seleman of Albany, NY and reflects the latest in advanced environmental design, systems engineering, materials and operation.
